The first ever India International Jewellery Show, IIJS Virtual 2020 kicked off with 330 exhibitors and over 8,000 registered buyers.
The five-day online fair from October 12 to 16 also attracted some 200 international visitors from the US, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Singapore and Hong Kong, among others. It is organised by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and powered by GIA.
IIJS, now in its 38th edition, was transformed to a complete virtual experience this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
GJEPC Chairman Colin Shah said the virtual event has been well received by the market, with solid interest from domestic and international buyers. “Slowly and gradually, the industry is gaining momentum to revive exports to the pre-Covid level. Our virtual platforms have been well appreciated by buyers and exhibitors alike,” he added.
According to the GJEPC, IIJS Virtual 2020 features well-equipped digital architecture and facilitates one-on-meetings between buyers and sellers. A total of 2,900 meetings was booked prior to the opening of the show. The event includes a series of webinars on current topics.
