The 13th edition of IIJS Signature 2020, scheduled for February 13 to 16 in Mumbai, will feature a special Design Pavilion to showcase the works of women entrepreneurs and budding jewellery designers.
According to show organiser Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), this platform will also offer participants with an avenue to meet and network with buyers from India and abroad.
IIJS Signature has so far attracted more than 10,800 pre-registered visitors, with more buyers expected to register. The fair will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.
GJEPC said it is offering special rates to participants in the Design Pavilion. Jewellery designers and women entrepreneurs will be selected by independent industry experts appointed by GJEPC and the Women’s Jewellery Association – India.
Pramod Agrawal, chairman of GJEPC, commented, “To encourage design talent and entrepreneurship, we created a special Design Pavilion, which will showcase the works of nine handpicked women entrepreneurs and nine up-and-coming jewellery designers. GJEPC indulges in a series of design initiatives throughout the year that help nurture jewellery design talents. The Design Pavilion at IIJS Signature is another effort in that direction.”
According to Agrawal, IIJS Signature is an important barometer of success for the Indian industry, showcasing the best of jewellery in terms of design, quality and finish, as well as high-technology solutions – all under one roof. “The show will undoubtedly help to boost India’s jewellery exports from US$12 billion at present to US$18 billion by 2025,” he added.
Colin Shah, vice chairman of GJEPC, meanwhile said the high response from exhibitors and visitors for IIJS Signature indicates potential growth in demand in 2020. For his part, Mansukh Kothari, convener - National Exhibitions at GJEPC, remarked that the show is an ideal occasion to replenish inventories for upcoming festivals and summer wedding season.
Two other events – Design Inspirations and Artisan Awards – will also be held on the sidelines of the show.
Artisan Awards 2020, with the theme Architectural Gems, will honour nine winners on February 12, at an exclusive gala in Mumbai. The day-long Design Inspirations seminar, meanwhile, will be held on February 16 and will feature industry experts as speakers.
