The Pantone Color Institute has named Living Coral, which it described as “animating and life-affirming,” as the 2019 colour of the year. The colour’s golden undertone “energises and enlivens with a softer edge,” it added.
Vibrant yet mellow Living Coral also evokes warmth and nourishment to provide optimism amid an ever-changing environment.
“Colour is an equalising lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanising and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord," revealed Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
According to the institute, the engaging nature of Living Coral “welcomes and encourages” light-hearted activity that enables connection and intimacy in a world where digital technology and social media have become a huge part of everyday living.
“Representing the fusion of modern life, Living Coral is a nurturing colour that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays a lively presence within social media,” the institute said.
