China’s retail sales of gold, silver and jewellery slowed down in March compared to the same period last year, latest data from the country’s National Bureau of Statistics showed.
Jewellery sales recorded a drop of 1.2 percent year-on-year but January to March figures saw an increase of 2.6 percent, government data also revealed.
Total sales of consumer goods in China rose 8.3 percent in the first quarter of the year.
Sales in the jewellery category were up 4.4 percent year-on-year in the first two months of 2019, according to the statistics bureau.
